헤리티지패션쇼_포스터(2)

This is a big frickin’ fashion/culture show. I’ve translated the gist of the blurb I just got from the PR company in charge of this project — if you’re at all interested in Korean fashion, traditional stuff, history, or just about anything cultural, this is going to be a show you’re going to simply shoot yourself if you miss. And it sounds like this is going to a blowout next to the last big fashion/cultural event put on by the government, the “Museum Fashion Show,” which was a great production and a wonderful show. Here’s what you need to know:

“In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the Cultural Properties Administration, the Korea Heritage Fashion Show will take place on October 2 at 7PM on a special stage inside the Kyungbok Palace, in front of the palace’s main inner gate. The event, sponsored by Cultural Properties Administration (Director: Choi Gwang-sik) and the Korean Fashion Association (Head: Weon Dae-yeon), is planned as a look back at Korea’s traditional cultural contents while looking forward to the future face of Korean fashion, as expressed through Korea’s traditions and culture. It will be a chance for all citizens to see Korea’s cultural heritage as it encounters globalization.

“Yesterday in the service of tomorrow” is the theme, as the present day encounters the unique beauty of Korea’s traditions…on a colorful stage housed within one of Korea’s living and breathing national treasures — the Kyeongbok Palace. Through the artistic personalities of several top Korean designers in this unique venue, Korea’s beautiful cultural treasures and history can find new life through the many presentations and performances that will come forth during the show.

Traditional culture and modernity will meet and find unique expression through the new works of Korean designers Park Youn Soo, Park Chun Moo, Jang Kwang Hyo, Kang Dong Jun, Kwak Hyun Joo, Lee Juyoung, IMseonoc, Ha Sang Beg, and Hong Hye Jin, as well as Korean traditional clothing designers Kim Hye Soon and Lee Seo Yoon.”

ADDENDUM: We just got word that we would be getting 20 VIP seats (general admission is standing, as well as free) for Yahae! readers! We’ll work a fun and fair way to pass them out very soon!
